Lawrence Li, MD

Lawrence Li, MD is an Orthopedic Surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with over 25 years of experience. He has been practicing orthopedics in McLean County since 1996. Dr. Li treats the entire range of orthopedic problems, and specializes in arthroscopic shoulder surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery and hand surgery.

Dr. Li has been performing arthroscopic shoulder surgery for over 20 years during which advances in shoulder procedures have been revolutionary leading to less invasion and faster recoveries. He performs rotator cuff repairs, labral repairs, instability procedures, subacromial decompressions, AC joint resections and adhesive capsulitis releases with only minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques 100% of the time. The outcome is superior and recovery time is much less compared with the traditional open shoulder surgeries.

Dr. Li completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before graduating with his medical degree from the University of Rochester. After finishing his degree, Dr. Li completed an internship in General Surgery and residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at Ohio State University Hospitals, where he gained the extensive skills and knowledge to provide patients with state-of-the-art orthopedic care.

Throughout his extensive experience, Dr. Li has been appointed to a number of positions, such as Chairman of Orthopedics at St. Joseph Medical Center, Vice President of Ireland Grove Center for Surgery, Orthopedic Consultant for 3M® Corporation and as a faculty member of Illinois State University. Dr. Li also holds affiliations at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, and Advocate BroMenn Medical Center.

Dr. Li has served as the Physician for many area sports teams and organizations, including Millikin University, Illinois State University, Central Catholic High School and Extra Innings. He is a member of the Education Council at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Li has over 20 years of experience performing Independent Medical Examinations (IME) at the request of patients, employers and insurance companies and he is CEDIR VI certified.
